Federal Program Driving the Detection of the Leak
This leak was not reported by any resident at Lakes of Bent Tree. It was identified during a routine inspection conducted as part of a nationwide safety initiative under the Protecting our Infrastructure of Pipelines and Enhancing Safety Act of 2020.
As part of this program, natural gas systems across the country are being proactively evaluated. The law expanded pipeline safety requirements with a strong emphasis on identifying and addressing gas leaks—particularly in residential communities.
These inspections are not unique to our community; they are part of a broader effort to improve public safety, reduce environmental impact, and modernize aging infrastructure.
Today’s repair is not the only leak identified. Additional, smaller leaks were also detected and have been marked with yellow plastic bands on gas meters near the condominium entrances.
Updates will be posted here.
