Spring Has Sprung

Entry Garden in Bloom

Spring planting is officially underway, and the entry garden is getting its seasonal glow-up. This summer, expect a soft, civilized riot of white and pink begonias—because nothing says “welcome home” like flowers that look like they woke up early and coordinated outfits.

The Great Holly Wall

In a bold move toward both beauty and subtle diplomacy, a hedge row of Nellie R. Stevens Hollies has been planted along the boundary line between Lakes of Bent Tree and our neighbors’ dumpster/parking lot situation.

Think of it as a natural privacy screen—less “out of sight, out of mind” and more “out of sight, into a lush, evergreen embrace.” Over time, this hedge will grow into a dense, year-round buffer that politely says, “We wish you well… from over here.”

The February Haircut You Were Glad You Didn’t Get

Back in February, all ornamental grasses and holly ferns were cut down to ground level. Yes—all the way down. It looked a little dramatic at the time (there may have been a moment of silence), but this is the horticultural equivalent of a fresh start.

Now, as spring rolls in, new growth is coming in fuller, greener, and far less emotionally attached to last year’s freeze damage.

Trees: Now Accepting Appointments

Spring tree trimming is now being scheduled. This is your trees’ chance to shed a few pounds, clean up their look, and avoid dropping “surprises” on your roof later.

If your tree has been “expressing itself” a little too freely, now’s the time to send in that workorder.

Your Patio Called… It Wants a Glow-Up

Add a few flowers. Maybe a planter. Possibly even a chair that matches the other chair. We’re not judging—we’re encouraging growth (both botanical and aesthetic).

One small thing before you unleash your inner landscape architect:
Please remember to submit a Home Improvement Authorization (HIA) before making changes.

Think of the HIA as:
  • A quick “sanity check” so we don’t accidentally invent new architectural styles
  • A way to keep the community looking cohesive (not like a Pinterest board fought a yard sale)
  • A simple step that keeps everyone out of awkward “so… about that…” conversations later

In short:
👉 Make it beautiful
👉 Keep it tasteful
👉 Send in the HIA
